Rain, rain, go the hell away. Kathryn pulled the cloak tighter around herself as water poured down atop of her. "This is ridiculous," she muttered, teeth chattering together as she shivered. "Peter?"

She turned to find her frost-bitten friend, standing just as drenched as she is, eyes showing how exhausted he was from all this walking. Kathryn felt her stomach rumble and her mouth watered, before walking over to him. "Kat, lets just bunk it in for the night at that motel," he pointed a shaking finger towards the large, old looking motel. "It's the best shelter we got, and maybe they'll have food?"

Kathryn pursed her lips, but nodded. "Yeah, alright," she then tightened the wet piece of fabric she called a poncho around her shoulders and led the way. Her and Peter were the same age. Not being family, nor in a romantic relationship, they had been borrowing together for a good three years now. And they were comfortable with one another.

It wasn't long before they had reached a small crack in the wall. It was hidden between some underbrush and crumbling stones. It wasn't the safest entrance, but from what they could see in the pouring rain, it was the only entrance. Kathryn stepped in first, batting down some cobwebs and dodging crumbling stones that fell from the ceiling.

She ducked another one and glanced back to Peter. He smiled weakly and gave her a thumbs up. "At least we're out of the rain, Kat," he said, ditching the cold piece of wet cloth and removing Kathryn's from her shoulders. "And we'll find more cloth in the motel. Once we find a nice spot, we'll get set up and then hurry on a hunt for some food and warmth for tonight."

Kathryn sighed softly and shivered, no longer having the cloth around her bare shoulders, but she nodded none the less. "Yeah," she agreed. "Still have that match in your borrowing bag?"

Searching through the bag, Peter successfully pulled out the unused match they had found in another abandoned room from a different. "Right here, although its wet, so I don't know it will light well."

"Well, there's only one way to find out," Kathryn took the match from his hand and swiped it along the ground. The first time, nothing, the second time, nothing, third time. A spark. "Welp, third time's the charm, right?" She joked weakly, hoping to ease the tension.

Holding the match like a torch, Kathryn lead the way, silently praying for them to come across a room soon. Her stomach growled and she reached her non-occupied hand down to sooth it. Damn hunger pains. It had been two days since the last time she had eaten. She let Peter have the last of her food. He needed it more than her.

Peter than took her shoulder. "Kathryn look!" He pointed down the hallway and squeezed by her, as he took the match with him. "Light, it must lead to a room."

She followed after him hastily, their small feet barely making an echoing sound as they ran down the hallway to the hole in the wall. And when they looked in, smiles crossed their faces. The room seemed to be unoccupied, but the three duffle bags proved otherwise. At the moment, it was empty and that was enough for the two borrowers. Kathryn looked to Peter and Peter met her gaze. They nodded in sync.

Peter dropped the match and stomped it out, as Kathryn darted out and scouted out to see if anyone was around. No one. "All clear," she said waving Peter over. Peter was quick to follow her, and he leaned over her shoulder to look around at everything. He was a slightly bit taller than she was, but that didn't matter. Women were usually shorter than men anyways.

But, a glorious smell caught their attention. Kathryn's mouth began to water at the scent as it wafted down to the two. "Is that what I think it is?"

Peter wiped at his mouth a little as he had drooled at the smell. "Yes, it is. Fresh, warm, delicious pizza," he licked his lips hungrily. "And it smells amazing." He took hold of Kathryn's wrist, after checking the coast three times and bolted out. She was quick behind him, having her wrist being grabbed.

Running over to the table, the stared up at it longingly. It was a steep climb, straight up to be exact, but it would be worth it and they had done worse before. Peter then looked over to Kathryn and moved aside. "Ladies first," she joked lightly. She patted him on the shoulder lightly and began her climb up, he wasn't far behind her.

A good few moments and Kathryn hooked her fingers on the edge of the table, before heaving herself up and looking at the pizza box. It was huge, but it smelled even more delectable from this range. She pulled herself on and watched as Peter placed his hands on the table as well, she took one and helped him up the rest of the way. "So worth it," she mumbled.

The both of them were still damp, but they had warmed up not only from being out of the rain, but also being in the warmth of this dusty motel room. They headed over and with both of this might, pushed the top to the pizza box open. "Peter, I'll hold it open. You grab enough for me and you to last a good few days," keeping it open Peter slipped inside and pulled out his handmade knife. He began to cut off decent sized pieces of pizza. Four for Kathryn and four for himself.

Suddenly there were thundering footsteps out in the hallway and the jiggling of a lock, but the door wasn't opened right away. There was arguing between three male voices. "Peter," Kathryn urged. "Hurry up, the humans are coming."

"The beans?" His eyes had widened and she nodded desperately. He hurried out with the eight tiny pieces of pizza, well large for them. Kathryn let the box lid fall back to how it was and they scrambled to the edge of the table. Grabbing her four, Kathryn grabbed hold of the leg and slid down. Peter right after. The two borrowers ran across the floor as fast as their little legs could carry them.

And just in time too.

The door and been opened and they just slid under the bed and into a bunch of dust bunnies. But it was under the wrong bed, it was the far bed that had their only means of escape. "Oh shit," Kathryn mumbled and her gaze was flicked over to where the three pairs of huge boots were now standing. Right where they had been moments ago.

"Hey don't worry," Peter assured the brunette, who was watching with close to wide eyes. Yes, he knew she could throw a sarcastic response to any of them if they got their hands on her, but that wasn't going to happen. "Its dark under here, and we have dust bunnies to hide behind. We'll be fine, come on. Let's eat."

Kathryn nodded slowly and moved back a little further so both their backs were pressed against the wall in the darkest corner of the under the bed. It may also be the dustiest, but that didn't bother the borrowers. They then began to silently munch away on their pizza slices, listening in on the conversation.

"Well, we're only here for the night," one of them said, sternly, obviously stating what was going to happen and that neither of the other men had a say in it. "And once it's morning, we're heading into Oregon for that missing kid case."

"Alright," said another, it was slightly different in key. These two sounded almost the same, as if they were brothers. The third male of their party, had yet to speak.

"But, there's only one problem," the third man spoke. It was obvious only two of them were related, the other had to have been a friend or something. "There's only two beds, which means one of will have to sleep on the floor."

Peter almost choked on his bite of pizza and Kathryn patted his back. Swallowing her own bite nervously, suddenly feeling stomach sick. "We're not safe here," he whispered, wiping the excess saliva from his mouth. "What are we supposed to do now?"

"Don't panic," Kathryn said, almost unsure herself of what to do. As much as she wanted to panic, she had to keep her cool. She had to. She looked around, trying to find something which they could hide under. She looked over and saw the bedside table separating the beds. "We can hurry under the bedside table and make a run for the other bed."

"But that's too risky!" Peter protested.

"Well would you rather stay here and get seen with no means of escape, or try and make an escape, get seen and then either get caught or escape?" She crossed her arms over her chest and looked to him. "Its up to you Mr. 'Its too risky'." She stuffed the rest of her pizza into her mouth, ditching the other three of her pieces. She'd rather find more food than he caught stealing theirs.

"Well, it ain't me," the first voice said, almost with a proud tone in his voice. The bed pulsed downwards as he took a seat and began to undo the laces to his boots. "So, maybe you can Sammy can either cuddle, or one of the two of you sleeps on the floor."

"Not me!" Said the third voice instantly, leaving the second one to grumble something incoherent and snatch a pillow from one bed and a blanket from the other. He dropped them to the ground and right over top of Kathryn and Peter as they made their great escape.

Kathryn opened her mouth to scream, but Peter grabbed her and pulled her into his chest and clamped a hand around her mouth to keep her from screaming. "It's okay, just-just relax we're gonna be fine."

"Come on guys, lets finish off the pizza and get to bed, we've got lots of driving ahead of us tomorrow and we need as much rest as we can get," the first voice said.

After the borrowers could tell the men had turned their attention away from makeshift bed on the floor, Peter too Kathryn's wrist and pulled her along behind him and they scurried under the other bed and searched quickly for the exit hole. Kathryn almost cried in relief, but what they hadn't noticed was that one of the men had been watching the entire time.

Kathryn heard a thump to the ground and she turned on her heels. She tripped over backwards and landed on her rump.

"Kat!" Peter called, when he turned around he saw two massive, greenish hazel eyes. Dark brown bangs hanging partly in front of them. He gasped and froze on instinct. He saw as the eyes widened slightly when he caught better sight of him.

"Holy shit," he mumbled. It was the man who had spoken second. Kathryn started to push back and Peter ran to her side, taking her arm and pulling her to her feet, but they both froze when a hand, a massive ass hand, started to reach for them. "Easy there little guys, easy." He was pleading them to stay calm and to his luck, he was able to pull them out from under the bed. He cupped a second hand over the one with the tiny creatures and he gave looks to the other. "You two need to see this."

"Peter," Kathryn just managed to see him in the darkness of the cupped hands, the only light seeping in through the spaces between his fingers. She pushed at the wall of flesh as Peter squirmed to try and annoy the human enough to put them down. Oh god, his claustrophobia was kicking in. That wasn't good. "Peter."

She noticed he had blacked out, oh shit. Now she was alone in this, well alone until Peter woke the hell up. Two thundering pairs of feet got closer and then the hands opened to reveal her. She gasped at the sudden light.

"What. The. Hell?" the first voice said, it was the man they heard first speak. "The are they?"

"I have no idea," replied the brunette captor who had them cupped in hand. They both fit easily in his palm wit room spare, it was crazy to see such human like beings exist. "They look human though."

"We're just as human as you are!" Kathryn snapped, shaking Peter awake. When he blinked open his eyes, he let out a gasp as he saw the three faces looking down at the two of them.

"Holy shit!" He yelped, trying to back up, only to bump into curled fingers.

"That's not gonna work their short stuff," said the first man again. "So, what the hell are you?"

Kathryn grit her teeth, but refrained from saying anything sarcastic, sassy or offensive. "Borrowers," she hissed. "We're borrowers. And now put us down, or I swear, we'll come back for you in your sleep."

The emerald eyed man rolled his eyes and pinched her the back of her shirt between a finger and thumb. "Kathryn!" Peter yelled reaching for her, but his fingers just missed the hem of her shirt and he was ignored anyways. "Oh really? Well, you have me shaking my boots, you know that? How big are you, three inches maybe? Oh yeah, so afraid," Kathryn shot him a pretty dark glare. "Alright, enough with that. Who are you?"

"The name's Kathryn, but you know," she shrugged, still glaring. "And that's Peter. And you three giants are?"

"First off sweetheart," he said placing her in an open palm. "We ain't giants, you're the ones that are out of place here. And second off, why should we tell you?"

"Because we told you," she pointed an accusing finger at him.

He narrowed his eyes at her, but agreed nonetheless. "I'm Dean, him," he motioned to the brunette captor. "That's Sam and the other one, he's Beckett. Are you happy?"

"Oh, ecstatic."

--------------------

The next thing the two borrowers found, was themselves trapped underneath a cup with the motel bible keeping them from pushing it over and escaping. Beckett was seated in front of them and Kathryn glared.

"Woah there Kitty Kat, I mean no harm. We're just hunters passing through," he said raising his hands.

"Don't call me that," she growled, and kicked at the glass, but nothing happened. Peter sighed and leaned against the glass behind him, watching Kathryn's poor attempts at trying to free them both. "When I get out of here, I'm gonna kick you big, dumb ass."

Beckett chuckled at the threat. "Whatever you want pipsqueak."

Dean then went and kneeled in front of the glass, large emerald eyes looking them both over and a smirk curled at the edges of his lips. "Hope you two like your new place, 'cause it looks like you'll be sticking with us," he gave the side a tap before standing up and shutting out the lights for the night. "Sleep well." It was more in a dark humor.

Kathryn sighed and leaned her had against Peter's shoulder in the darkness of the room. "Looks like we're not going to find a home, are we?"

Peter patted Kathryn's shoulder gently. "It'll be alright, and when we do, maybe we'll find someone to settle down with. Maybe, maybe this is a chance for us, Kat," he then leaned over. "Next time we're not trapped, make a break for it."

She nodded and then everyone in the room, slowly fell into slumber. Everything was quiet, save for the light breathing of everyone.
